It’s the power of having critical information at your fingertips, 24 hours a day, to help you make better daily and long-term strategic decisions. That’s one reason Komatsu designed KOMTRAX: to provide you with answers to critical questions about your machines—what they’re doing, when they did it, where they’re located, how they can be used more efficiently, and when they need to be serviced. With KOMTRAX, owners, managers and operators can monitor machines on the web; anywhere, anytime. The result is the power to make fact-based decisions having a direct effect on your bottom line through increases in efficiency and productivity, while lowering owning and operating costs.
Komatsu dealers, utilizing the KOMTRAX system and the machine abnormality data it reports, can easily link to Komatsu’s troubleshooting support system to find immediate solutions and answers. KOMTRAX provides our dealers with the power to offer unrivaled product support by preemptively providing operational feedback and customer service, as well as the ability to meet and plan your parts, service, and equipment needs.
Here you will get answers to the most common questions about KOMTRAX:
KOMTRAX not only gives you the power of knowledge, but also the convenience of managing your fleet on the Web, wherever you are. KOMTRAX data is packaged specifically for easy and intuitive analysis in maps, lists, graphs and charts that are ready for viewing at your convenience.
KOMTRAX is already installed on most Tier-3 Komatsu construction equipment—and it’s ready to run FREE the first five years (no communication service fees!). This technology can also be installed in almost anything using a 12V or 24V electrical system to collect basic operating information, making it possible to retrofit KOMTRAX on older machines and non-Komatsu equipment.
With KOMTRAX, knowledge becomes the power to fuel your productivity.
KOMTRAX uses a network of low earth-orbit satellites to relay basic and critical performance data from your machine to your computer as well as to Komatsu Company-owned Dealer, your local Komatsu distributor—who’s readily available for expert analysis and feedback. It collects detailed information from your machines on a daily basis and through event-driven occurrences. You are then provided with daily, monthly, and annual reports on both basic and more advanced aspects of machine performance.
Through the web application, a variety of search parameters are available to help you quickly find information about specific machines based on key factors such as utilization rates, age, various notification messages, and more. KOMTRAX data can also be pulled into your existing management and office applications or downloaded directly into spreadsheet programs for further analysis.
KOMTRAX doesn’t just provide information; it provides answers.
KOMTRAX gives you the power and knowledge to help you make fact-based, basic and strategic business decisions regarding your machines and their operations. This pays off in increased productivity and availability, proactive support, smarter management, and much more.
The information KOMTRAX reports will vary by machine model for Komatsu equipment.
Below is a listing of information your machine may be able to provide.
Say goodbye to hit-or-miss maintenance—KOMTRAX allows you and Komatsu America to be more proactive in scheduling informed, intelligent preventive maintenance for your machines. Each day, the KOMTRAX Web site displays information on each machine’s performance, including service meter readings, cautions, and engine performance details such as working and idle times. Maintenance reminders coupled with the abnormality codes your dealer receives allows you or your dealer to identify and address potential future issues during routine maintenance checks—and to ensure parts availability for faster repairs and greater machine availability.
KOMTRAX allows you to locate equipment on large jobsites or around your territory, monitor machine movement, determine which operators are more efficient in which situations, track fuel consumption, identify operator use and habits, and chart daily hours of operation. With dealer provided operational reports you can see how many hours your machine spent in various modes of operation such as digging, traveling, hydraulic relief, power mode, economy mode, lifting mode, and more.
With the touch of a button, you have all the information you need about your fleet right at your fingertips—on an easy-to-use, secure Web application that lets you analyze the data through maps, graphs, lists, and charts.
KOMTRAX comes standard on most new construction models with FREE service (no monthly communication fees!) for the first 5 years. KOMTRAX has two important additional cost advantages: the possibility of a higher resale value on your machines and increased security, which may lead to reduced insurance costs. Your machines may have a higher value during resale or trade-in because KOMTRAX records maintenance item replacement history, actual working hours, and the operational load levels of your machine. And security features like geo-fencing and engine lock decrease the chances of loss from theft, which may also reduce insurance costs. Engine lock capabilities include the ability to prevent the machine from being started at anytime, set recurring daily lock periods, and set a “calendar lock,” which allows you to prevent startup between specific times and dates of the year (i.e., during the Thanksgiving holiday period).
While other manufacturers charge premiums for even basic GPS products, Komatsu has invested in better serving our customers and continuously improving our products and support. That’s why Komatsu provides the first five years of communication fees FREE on pre-installed and field-installed KOMTRAX systems.
You can give your current machines the KOMTRAX advantage with no monthly communication fee for the first 5 years, too. Simply contact Komatsu Company-owned Dealer for information on purchasing a retro-fit kit for older or non-Komatsu machines.
To access your machine information, simply log on to the Web-based application from any computer, and view or download the information you need. With this level of detail at your fingertips, you’ll be able to make educated short- and long-term decisions that can increase availability, lower operational costs, and improve overall profitability.
