March 24, 2026 – Komatsu will host an open house on Wednesday, April 8, in Sacramento, California, to connect with local contractors and demonstrate the strength of support provided by the Komatsu company-owned dealer West network (commonly known as Komatsu West) for equipment owners across Northern California following a recent territory transition.

“Our mission is to provide consistent support and clear communication so construction, forestry and quarry organizations can plan their work with confidence,” said Todd Gaspers, Vice President of Operations, Komatsu West. “We hope contractors will stop by, get to know our team and learn more about how we partner with them to keep their projects moving.”

Local contractors, fleet managers and community members are invited to attend. For more information, call (916) 375-3540 or visit our Komatsu Company-owned Dealers website.

Komatsu crowns Allen Cherrington of Columbus Equipment Company as its 2026 Advanced Technician Competition (ATC) champion

Allen Cherrington conducts a machine inspection during the first round of the event.

March 23, 2026 – Komatsu honored the precision, skills and commitment of diesel technicians in its dealer network with the 2026 North America Komatsu Advanced Technician Competition (ATC) — held at Komatsu’s Cartersville Customer Center in Cartersville, Georgia. The competition spanned two days as ten technicians were scored in the areas of technical capability, quality of work, and safety.

Allen Cherrington of Columbus Equipment Company (Ohio) won the event and was crowned champion. Jorge Moreno of Lyle Equipment (southeastern U.S.) came in second place, and Nathan Specht of Komatsu Company-Owned Dealer East (Komatsu East) finished third.

Earning a spot in the championship was its own competition as technicians from throughout North America participated in formal prequalifying events. Ultimately ten technicians made their way to Cartersville to go head-to-head in events that ranged from machine inspection and troubleshooting techniques to customer relations and safety.

“Pride in craftsmanship and the resulting success that it helps deliver for fleet managers and business owners is the driving force behind every technician in the Komatsu network — but bragging rights and being recognized among the best are great prizes as well,” said Griffin Reome, Director of Technical Workforce Development, Komatsu. “The real success here is shining a spotlight on the passion and discipline, and the resulting job satisfaction, that comes with being a technician in the heavy equipment industry.”

“Allen, Jorge and Nathan — and all ten finalists — are showcasing how important these careers are. And that these jobs are something to aspire to for anyone who is technically minded, loves building things, and appreciates real craftsmanship and the power of heavy equipment.”

Each winner of the Komatsu ATC received a selection of Komatsu-branded prizes and merchandise. In addition, the top two finishers earned an exclusive “Day in the Life” experience with the opportunity to see how a pit crew operates up close at the upcoming Miami Grand Prix, United States, made possible through Komatsu’s ongoing partnership with the Atlassian Williams F1 Team.

“Speed, precision, talent, and the combination of peak human performance with extreme technical excellence — we couldn’t think of a better way to honor these technicians,” said Reome.

Komatsu introduces XF895-3 forwarder

A WA700 wheel loader deposits a load into an HD605-10 haul truck at Komatsu's Arizona Proving Grounds in Sahuarita, Arizona.

The XF895-3 is well-suited for final felling and large-scale forwarding.

January 13, 2026 – Komatsu introduces its XF895-3 forwarder to the North American market, a purpose-built machine with smarter designs and stronger elements for performance and productivity in the most demanding forestry operations. It is an ideal match to the 8-wheeled XH951XC-1 harvester introduced in September.

Engineered for final felling and large-scale forwarding, the improved Komatsu XF895-3 forwarder includes an upgraded crane, reinforced frame and redesigned load space to make moving larger loads more efficiently.

Key updates include:

  • New optional 205F crane with enhanced lift geometry and optional reach up to 32.8 feet (10 meters)
  • Optional G85H grapple with 4.3 ft2 (0.40 m²) tip-to-tip area for greater material control
  • Upgraded telescopic gate, rugged bunks with widening function and optional height-adjustable stakes
  • Reinforced frame and articulating joints designed to accommodate increased load capacity
  • New, electronically controlled hydraulic pump improves responsiveness and fuel efficiency
  • Simplified service with a single-filter hydraulic tank design

“The XF895-3’s enhancements make it even more well-suited for big log-hauling, final felling and ground preparation,” said Rob Warden, Senior Product Manager, Forestry. “It features a more robust frame for toughness, plus a new more powerful crane as an option. The load space offers a lot of adjustability for your tasks, such as telescoping width and height adjustments and fully adaptable gate.”

The XF895-3 forwarder is an excellent match for the newly introduced XH951XC-1, one of the largest harvesters on the market. Its eight driven wheels deliver incredible traction, maneuverability and stability, especially in steep, soft or rugged conditions. Inside the cab, operators experience automotive-level quality with refined controls and features built for all-day comfort and precision.

Together, the XH951XC-1 and XF895-3 reflect Komatsu’s ongoing innovation in forestry machinery — empowering operators to do more with greater comfort, control and confidence.

June 9, 2025 – In alignment with Komatsu’s mining strategy of delivering high customer satisfaction and supporting business growth through successful partnerships, the company has transitioned ownership of six independent Core Machinery dealerships to Komatsu-owned dealers in the Southwestern United States.

Three former Core Machinery locations in California (Bakersfield, Mojave and Perris), as well as three in Arizona (Prescott, Phoenix and Tucson), are now Komatsu-owned dealers providing Komatsu mining equipment, parts and services.

“We are pleased to welcome the talented Core Machinery team to Komatsu,” said John Ward, Senior Vice President, Mining and Company Stores. “Together, our unified team will work to expand Komatsu’s product offerings and improve customer access across the newly integrated territories. We look forward to this collaboration and delivering enhanced value to our customers’ operations.”

The sale was finalized on June 9, 2025. These six locations are part of an expanded Komatsu-owned dealer territory, which now encompasses Arizona and Southern California.

Komatsu’s existing mining facility in Mesa, Arizona, has long supported strategic mining customers, and this acquisition strengthens the company’s ability to serve additional businesses across the Southwestern United States. Many of these customers have been integral to the mining industry for years. This expansion will allow Komatsu to continue serving these valued customers while significantly growing the company’s business in this region.
